ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
I'm doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as nominated by Rich Sng from FABULOUS AESTHETICS! If you guys have no idea what this is about, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is basically the act of dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to the research for a cure.
Now, what's ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neurone disease (MND), Charcot disease, and Lou Gehrig's disease, is a neurodegenerative disease with various causes. It is characterised by muscle spasticity, rapidly progressive weakness due to muscle atrophy, and difficulty in speaking (dysarthria), swallowing (dysphagia), and breathing (dyspnea). ALS is the most common of the five motor neurone diseases.
People who have ALS will gradually become more disabled. The rate at which the disease worsens is different for every individual. Most people who are diagnosed with ALS live only for a couple of years. Eventually, ALS makes it hard for the patient to walk, speak, eat, swallow, and, even, breathe. These problems heightens the level of difficulty in performing even the simplest and basic tasks of a patient's daily life. In most cases, death will occur within 3 to 5 years after symptoms begin, although some people do live for many years, in some rare cases.
Enough said, here is my ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Enjoy!
Like what I have mentioned in the video, I am not nominating anyone for this challenge because:
1) I don't want to force anyone to dump ice water on their heads;
2) I don't want to force anyone to donate their money to aid in the research. Mainly because it's if YOUR money, and I have no say in how you should utilise your money. Also, there are countless of charitable causes out there that we know of, but don't donate to. Not because we are not sympathetic towards people who are suffering from something we're not, but because there are just too many that even if we have all the a lot of money, we can never donate to all of them.
I understand that a couple of criticisms have arose relating to this campaign, accusing challenge doers to be wasting water by performing this 'meaningless' activity, while at the other half of the world, people are suffering from water scarcity and diseases associated with the lack of clean water. But guys, think about it, aren't all these seemingly 'pointless' and 'stupid' activities what that attracts people's attention on the internet today? I don't deny that all of the water used for this challenge can definitely save thousands of people, probably, from dehydration, but the water that have been 'wasted' are used in a good way. It helped in raising awareness for ALS and had served its purpose. So far, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has already raised more than US$23 million for the research.
So please, before you start criticising about how much water went to waste, or how people are doing the challenge and not donating, or anything like that, ask yourself, what have you done for this cause?
If you did, i applaud you for that! *claps hands*
Here's how to donate. It's as easy as online shopping, Im not even kidding.
Just visit www.alsa.org and click on the 'donate' button.
It will then bring you to this page.
Scroll down, and fill up your particulars and amount you're going to donate, etc.
Yes, I know $10 is a small amount, but it's the thoughts that count okay.
And you are done! Yay!
You will be greeted by this page upon donation completion!
So? It's super easy right?
Okay bye. Peace.

Bintan 240614
So......... If you have been following me on Instagram, you would have known that I went to Bintan Lagoon Resort in June for a commercial photoshoot (I'm not allowed to disclose any details of the product until its official launch, sorry!) with Dylon. I'm super thankful to have him with me on this trip! He was like my nanny lol. Helped me to carry my big bags of clothes and makeup, sheltered me from the Sun using an umbrella during the shoot, fed me water cause my hands were full of sand, wiped sand off my face, etc. I know all of these are small acts. But it's these small acts from him that make me feel loved:)
Okay, background info. I basically had to lie on the sand the entire time during the shoot. That's why I wasn't able to drink water and wipe sand off my face and all. And with the Sun was right above our heads in the sky, the heat was unbearable /: Now, imagine yourself lying on the scorching sand for 30 minutes. Fun? Definitely not.)
We arrived at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at about 8 plus in the morning, and departed at around 10 am for Bintan. To be honest, I was extremely excited. Not for the shoot, but because that was my first trip to Bintan! Not forgetting to mention, that marked our first overseas trip. Well, yes, I know I know, you must be thinking, 'It's just Bintan, just about an hour away from Singapore by ferry, no biggy'. Right? No doubt, that's true. But that couldn't contain the amount of excitement within me. I'm easily satisfied, alright?
Impromptu shoot by my dearest.
The entire landscape was bathing in warm glow of the rising sun by the time we arrived in Bintan. The breath taking scenery was captivating. I mean, beautiful scenery, crystal clear sky, breezy weather, we just had to make good use of all these elements by capturing them in photographs (and with me inside these photos hehe).
By Chloe the photographer. #toocoolforyou
My selfie taking practices have done me good. *wink*
Ignore me awkward face. It was so hard trying to keep my eyes open for long. It might not show in photos but the Sun's rays that afternoon was quite strong. I can barely open my eyes for longer than five seconds without tearing. I'm not even exaggerating lol.
Looking at the love of my life.
Okay, this shot has a story to tell.
Dylon was like, 'Okay you need to smile, you look *insert Dylon's thumb* when you smile.'
So I gave him an awkward smile
and he went, 'No, weird.'
'How how how to smile un-weirdly?'
'I don't know, just smile.'
And we burst out laughing after staring at each other for a couple of seconds hahaha.
That's how it led to the birth of this photo. :)
Armpit hair HAHAHA
SEEEEEEEEEE. Do you see what I see? The scenery behind us. Magnificent, isn't it?
Behind us sat the restaurant where we had our lunch.
Cover your eyes, kids. Not for the underage teehee.
Candid shot!
Enjoying ourselves at the pool after the shoot hehe.
Failed thrice, and this is the best.
I just couldn't open my eyes underwater.
I consider this to be a very lousy shot but he insisted that this was very well taken.
Now I know why they say 'opposites attract'.
We intended to go for a swim to burn off the calories we consumed during lunch, but ended up taking selfies instead. Haha. Typical of us.
A kiss for the sweetest guy.
Me: 'Baby, am I heavy?'
Him: 'Nope.'
- 5 seconds later -
Me: 'Baby, am I heavy?'
Him: 'No, not at all.'
- 5 seconds later -
Me: 'Baby, am I heavy?'
Him: 'No, you're not heavy. So baby, please shut up.'
Most hilarious conversation we had HAHHA. He was so annoyed when I asked him if I was heavy repeatedly.
Nope, guys, he's not praying or anything like that.
I actually wanted him to do the yoga pose (you know, the tree pose?), and snap a photo of half of his body above the water and the other half under the water. That would have been so cool! But of course, that certainly needed some skills and training to begin with, so I decided to give up. Sighpiez.
Spot me.
Look who's topless! :O
My fave fave fave pic <3
This was taken in the billiard room, which is air-conditioned (yay!), after a long day. We were dead tired by then. Both of us didn't manage to sleep much the previous night. Busy packing and doing our stuff. And my poor boy here drove us to the terminal early in the morning before the sun was up, while I napped on the car hehe.
Okay, this basically summed up my short one-day Bintan trip :)

World Miss University Part 4
After being crowned as Miss Singapore Global Beauty Queen 2013 last year, I was given the opportunity to represent Singapore in the 26th World Miss University Pageant February this year, which took place in South Korea. And here's my little journey of 3 weeks in Korea.

YAY. Long awaited WMU Part 4. I have to admit that I have completely forgotten about this post lol. But yeap, here it is. I cannot remember exactly what happened
This was the second day in Hwacheon (if I'm not wrong). And we were on our way to this environment center in Hwacheon to have our peace and environment speech. So basically, we were required to come up with a two minutes long speech each on the topic 'peace' and 'environment'.
I only had about 2-3 hours of sleep the previous night, to be honest. I guess some of the other girls stayed up all night to write/ practice their speeches, like me, too. This is definitely not my first time delivering a speech in front of the pretty huge crowd. Despite that every time I do, I still can't help it but to feel extremely nervous.
I was pretty anti-social when I was younger. You can consider me an introvert then, actually, until I joined MSBP2013. That was when I was challenged pushed beyond my limits.
The view is incredible. I'm in love~
Briefing before we arrive at our destination!
One of the staff that took care of us during the entire WMU camp!
Sorry these two photos were upright when I uploaded them, but they refuse to remain upright after they were uploaded. So...
Free time = Photo time
#pageantlogic
Spot the 'cameraman' behind! :D
FIRST TIME. Guys, that was the first time I made a snowball successfully. Every single time, it'd just crumble and fall apart. Never in my life had any snowballs that I made held its shape. Until this.
As you can see, the staff behind me was taking a photo of someone. I have to say a big big big 'Thank you" to them. Cause for the entire camp, they spent maybe half of the time (if I'm not wrong?) taking photos of us.
He's the youngest staff there! (Only one year older than me!)
As you may already have noticed, I was having a bad hair day that day. My fringe refused to be good, and hence, the huge hole in the middle.
Otter conservation talk!
This is me delivering my environmental speech. It went pretty well, I must say, hehe. Stumbled a little towards the end but everything else was good.
My best roomie deserves a hug!! Missed her so much ever since we moved to Hwacheon from Seoul. (She was first my roommate when we were staying in Seoul).
Designed this t-shirt myself. Good right. The hanbok I drew is so pretty, isn't it? *wink*
Ignore the ugly handwriting. It was so difficult to get the alphabets right because we had to draw/ write in the reversed direction so that it will be imprinted onto the t-shirt in the correct side.
Some funny faces to mark the end of a tiresome day with Tina.
:*
:P
