Easels

As mentioned in my previous post, I am extremely honoured and thrilled to have Easels as my hair and nails sponsor for the grand finals of Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2014! :)

You can read about it in my previous blog post!

Hair • Nail • Makeup

Far East Plaza
14 Scotts Road #05-32/33
Singapore 228213

Located at a corner on the fifth level, it may seem difficult to find the salon, but it, in fact, is not hassle at all. Their fresh and bright outlook stands out from the others, making it effortless in finding the salon!

Curls in the making!

In the midst of curing my hair :)
Loving how perfect the curls are. To be honest, I do have a handful of hair-styling tools at home, and despite the fact that I do try to invest the same amount of time and effort into hair-styling as I do in makeup, I still fail to achieve my desired hairstyle every single time. Not going to lie, but that's exactly how bad I am at hair-styling. So whenever a hairstylist styles my hair, I never fail to be so amazed at the very end. I know best how stubborn my hair is and how difficult it is to style my hair, so it's commonsensical that one needs to have a lot of skills when dealing with my hair.

It really annoys me sometimes how professional hairstylists make doing sophisticated hairstyles appear to be so easy to achieve. It'll take millions of years of practice for myself to perfect even simplest waves.

Meet my hairstylist for the day, senior hairstylist, Ray!

Finishing touches!!

Guys and girls, can anyone NOT be amazed by how stunning this hairstyle is? The pearls completed this sophisticated up-do with a touch of elegance. I am so in love with the overall look. It's just so feminine and pretty. It's so me.

Basically all I asked for initially was simple waves cause I really had no idea what hairstyle I should go for for that evening. So, I showed him a photo of the gown that I will be wearing that night and asked Ray what did he think would look the best with my gown.

And BAM! , there we have. This breathtaking piece of artwork HAHA. He really surprised me because this is way more than what I asked for and expected. Every exquisite detail was taken care of. From the voluminous crown to the perfect bouncy curls at the ends, and finally to the dainty pearl hair accessories.

On top of that, I love how modish this hairstyle looks. I have had my hair styled by several hairstylists previously, and most of the time, the hairstyles they did for me made me look so old mature. I'd look like I'm in my late twenties lol, not even lying. And when I announced my actual age to people, they'd all go, 'Omg are you serious?' or 'Omg please don't lie!' . Sigh, yeap, that's the #storyofmylife . But this style, my dear, has perfectly brought out the sprightliness and feminine side of me instead of adding a few more years to my age!

My hairstylist, Ray, has really done a great job and without doubt, I am truly impressed!

A side view of my hairstyle for all you lovelies! :)

And no, I'm not holding onto my phone for the sake of the photo, in case you're wondering. I was actually using my phone, and I dimmed the brightness to the minimum to save battery. that's exactly why the screen appears t be blank in the photo. It had to last me the entire night, y'know.

Here's a shot with Ray! :)

Time for nails now! :)
Here I am, having my nails shaped by one of the manicurist from Easels.

Please ignore my 'fierce' face. I was staring blanking into space. I barely had enough sleep the previous night as I was busy doing my work and preparing my things for that evening, so I was really exhausted.

Meanwhile, take a moment to appreciate the eye makeup that I did for myself hehe. *wink*

Aren't her nails cute?! Would love to have nail designs like hers, but then... There's school, sigh.

As I scrolled down the previous four photos, I cant help but to be captivated by how pretty my hair looks hehe. It looks so perfect!

As you can see, she gave me a few coating of the white gelish nail polish as the base colour before applying a sheer pink colour over to give it a really sweet and elegance feel! Reason why I had to have to white colour as the base was to conceal my bruised left thumb.

In case any of you are wondering, I had slammed my thumb carelessly when closing the car door during practical lessons around two weeks or so before. Sighh. It hurt like a b****, I swear. It was so painful the first night that I couldn't even fall asleep. It was so unbearable! Internal bleeding between the nail plate and the nail bed caused pressure to be built up due to the accumulation of blood, and that is exactly what that caused the pain. It swelled to twice the size of my normal thumb size! And the swell have yet to subside completely even till now, despite the fact that it's already been more than a week since I injured this poor little guy over here. In more serious cases, the accumulation of blood at the nail bed may lift up the nail plate so much that the entire nail plate comes off.

Don't judge me. But I was so paranoid that my nail would fall off that I went to google and scared the hell out of myself after watching videos of trephination and nail removal procedures in more severe cases. Trephination is basically a method of draining the built-up blood at the nail bed by creating a hole in the nail, and allowing the blood to drain away.

But I was consider lucky to have only bruised my nail and not slammed my entire thumb, fracturing it as a result. Thank goodness, I didn't have to go through the pain and torture of trephination or nail removal. I just left it alone and by the fifth or sixth day, the pain had already subsided. Now, it doesn't even feel pain or what not, it's just still a little swollen, that's all.

The entire gelish manicure application took only about 20+ minutes.
Quick and fuss-free!

Like my gorgeous hairstyle? Stay close as I will be sharing with you my exclusive experience at Easels Group who is my generous sponsor for hair styling and nails that evening!

And isn't my gown gorgeous?! I fell in love with it every single time I look at it. Not to show off (hehe), but I got a few compliments (hehehe) wearing this stunning piece. It's like as though it's made for me. I didn't even need for any alternations to be done, the gown was a perfect fit for me. And in case you don't know, it is really hard to find a gown of your perfect fit. All gowns come in different sizes and cuttings, and you'll rarely come across a gown of the perfect fit without having to do any alterations.

If you're looking for gorgeous gowns at an affordable price, do check out D2D, @ dolce2dolce.com.sg !

Honored to have Paul Foster with us tonight hosting this grand event alongside one of our beautiful queens.

While waiting for my successor to be announced......

.......Jasmine!

I love how my hair looks from the side!! <3

Looking at this photo reminds me of the grand finals last year where I stood at the very specific spot Jasmine is at.

My heart pounded so heavily against my chest as I stood on stage while the emcee announced the winners. And I bet the finalists felt the same last night too.

We got so nervous that we didn't even have appetite to eat anything. And whenever we had breaks in between different segments, we'd practice our walks down the hallway. Not forgetting to mention how we used to talk to ourselves while practicing for the most dreaded segment, Q&A. And I still can remember myself asking the other finalists repeatedly if my thighs were jiggling while I walked in my bikini last year. Yeap, I was that insecure. HAHA.

Not that I'm not insecure now. I still am. And always will, I know that's for sure. I mean I'm human, so I have imperfections as well. And I'm proud to say that I'm trying to embrace my imperfections instead of trying to hide them or hate myself for them in the past.

With the greatest man of all, the father of all the beauty queens, Alex papa <3

I love how he never fails to put that bright smile on his face :)

With Angela mama :)

Can't imagine how fast time flies! It's been more than a year since I was crowned by dearest Florence jiejie as Miss Singapore Global Beauty Queen 2013, and last evening, I crowned my successor, Miss Singapore Global Beauty Queen 2014, at Amara Singapore

Though it's only been a short one year, being part of the ERM family taught me so many things and enriched my life so significantly. I remember myself as an ignorant and helpless girl last year when I first crossed path with all these wonderful people. And I dare to say that I have matured so much to be the woman I am today.

Needless to mention, without the guidance, support, help and endless opportunities given to me by Alex papa and Angela mama, and, of course, the entire ERM family, I'll never become who I am today. No words can truly express the amount of gratitude I have for them. And to be standing on that stage, crowning my successor, is such an honor to me.

Though my reign is over, I'll still continue to work hard and strive to reach greater heights!

I hereby wish all the newly crowned queens of 2014 a big big congratulations. You have done a great job last evening and all of you deserve your achievements.

Welcome to the ERM family :) Always be humble and truthful. Never forget who you are and what your values are. Lastly, represent Singapore and ERM well in your upcoming competitions and make us proud! And of course, I wish you the best of luck! :)

Love, Chloe
